ALBANY NY (WRGB) – College is supposed to be the best four years of your life and when you walk across that stage for graduation, you feel accomplished.

“The idea of walking across the stage at the end of my undergraduate experience has definitely been something I was looking forward to,” replied Galway.

However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, some college students will have to wait for that feeling until a later time.

Mirren Galway, a student at UAlbany, says “I’m a first generation student, so just getting to college and completing college in the next couple of months has felt like such a huge accomplishment for me.” Colleges across the Capital Region have made the decision to postpone their spring commencement ceremonies. “I was doing an internship with Congressman Paul Tonko’s office, who represents Albany, in D.C. and I was really excited for it. I never would’ve expected to have had that experience canceled. It took over a year for preparation,” said Galway.
